SHEEP FLOCK IN TO MOW VALLEY GRASS

A flock of 20 sheep has set to work to help with the conservation of Coulsdon's Happy Valley.

The 20 Herdwick and Jacob sheep will spend three months grazing on the north side of Happy Valley, to keep down vegetation and grass.

The grass, if not kept in check, would overshadow and threaten the chalk grassland's wildflowers and wildlife.

The valley's wildflower meadows are one of the most diverse wildlife habitats in Britain, supporting many rare plants and insects.
