New A23 Bypass.
The new A23 bypass is proving to be successful with regard to easing traffic congestion and parking in the Town Centre, but sadly this is to the detriment of local businesses.
CR5 has spoken to some of the traders in the town who reported a significant drop in takings. This has made the bypass as unpopular as parking wardens with shops who rely on passing trade.
Let me know your thoughts on this or any other item of local interest.
Whilst being the length of the bypass from the south towards Purley on Saturday lunch time, I never saw one bus, yet the bus lane runs almost the hole length of the road thus reducing the room for cars by half. This made me wonder how many bus routes are scheduled along that road, as I would have assumed that buses would stop in the town centre for the shops, or are buses going to bypass the town and take shoppers to Purley instead?
